Kerry Dunn

This painting came out of a series of paintings where I was experimenting with working from old black and white photos and then inventing the color; as well as incorporating the palette knife as the main instrument for applying paint. I find that I often like to work with clumsy tools, they help me to be more expressive in my mark making and to embrace the 'happy accident' as part of the process. In this piece I attempted to make the hands the focal point which pushed the faces a bit further back... making a more interesting composition.
