This is an original oil painting on linen re-creating the feeling of a collage. In my newest series, “The Rise and Fall,” I explore the layering of human history and how it relates to nature. I use scraps of salvaged, painted papers, vintage wallpapers and a retrospective of black and white images combined into collages that I then translate into oil paintings on canvas. The torn papers suggest blocks of crumbling monuments, architecture, or abstracted landscapes. Birds are the protagonists of the works as they forage what is left behind by mankind. Themes touched on include conceptual play with DaDa references, alongside a serious message about mortality, the cycle of life, and the fragility of nature.
Ships wired and ready to hang. Collector may choose to frame it at their local framer, if desired.
