Lisa Hunt

Drawing upon the history of African American quiltmaking and traditional West African textile techniques, I use editions of previously screen printed editions, including Cross Sections, to compose “threads” in an intentional way that explores materiality, process, and spatiality. I am mining my own history as a Black female artist, extracting the infinite combinations available through improvisation, abstraction and dimensionality.
