The painting 'Call for Spring' was inspired when I found these beautiful David Austin roses in Florence. Spring is a special time in Florence, as it is a much awaited season, after the long and cold winters here in Italy. These roses in their abundance, almost poetically were a sign that better times were coming with longer days, more sunshine and hope. It was a way to capture their beauty and scent and preserve it for days to come. The oval composition, seemed to flatter the arrangement of the florals on the branches the best , adding to their romance.
