Give Me Some Skin
Give Me Some Skin
April 22 - May 22, 2021
Thick, thin, flaccid, taut, wet, chapped, young and old—skin is the incredible yet fragile barrier that divides our inner and outer worlds while connecting us to one another. We long for the repeat pleasures of a loving embrace or a warm hug from a friend. Lived experiences are woven into the surface of our bodies: scars tell stories, tattoos chronicle milestones, and stretch marks highlight our resilience. Skin maps our unique selves, and tells the story of how we each exist within it.
Opening Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Sugarlift, Give Me Some Skin artists offer opportunities to explore moments that we share with only ourselves. The works are all portals, through which skin is celebrated as an essential constant of what makes us human.
